How to manage mental health in a mental world?
Life’s mad! The list of things to get sad or anxious about is seemingly endless. Or is it?
Since the age of 16 I’ve experienced depression, generalised anxiety, obsessive anxiety, panic attacks and body dysmorphic disorder. I’m an introvert, an anxious-avoidant and an INFJ. I hate tuna. Cucumbers should be burned.
Fortunately, I’ve had a lot of help along the way from hypnotherapy to psychodynamic therapy, from cognitive behaviour therapy to transactional analysis. I’m learning about myself every day… and yet I still can’t tell you why The Devil Wears Prada is my favourite movie. It just is.
I’m a devout Christian and a great believer that God created life on earth – not just existence. Life is for living, and we should talk about what’s troubling us. Hence the creation of this blog.
What else can I say about me? I love SF and video games. I’m a freelance actor / social media man / BAFTA-nominated writer 😉 I’m also training to be a counsellor. I’m not a medical professional; you should always go and see a doctor if you’re concerned about your mental health. Everything I write about on here is just a reflection of my own personal experiences – and maybe an opinion or two. If I can offer some germ of ‘wisdom’ that helps one person to manage mental health, then that’s time well spent, right?
